WHO'S WHO

CERYS MATTHEWS

Cerys Matthews is the lead singer of Catatonia and is the writer of many of the band's songs, including Karaoke Queen, Valerian and Bulimic Beats. She has also co-written most of Catatonia's songs with Mark Roberts, including all the Way Beyond Blue tracks, Mulder and Scully, Game On, Road Rage, Part of the Furniture and Post Script. Cerys is the most famous member of the band and is known as a bit of a party animal. On one occasion, after a heavy drinking binge, she woke up in France with no idea of how she got there. Other infamous incidents include cartwheeling on top of a double decker bus and stealing a tractor.

MARK ROBERTS

Mark co-founded the band with Cerys in 1992 and as well as the songs he has written with Cerys, his credits include some of Catatonia's most loved songs, such as I am the Mob, International Velvet, Dead From the Waist Down, Londinium, She's A Millionaire and Storm the Palace. Mark plays guitar for the band, but rarely appears in interviews.

PAUL JONES

Paul is the bass player for Catatonia and he was involved in writing Infantile, Goldfish and Paracetamol and Shoot the Messenger. He is the oldest member of the band and can often be spotted wearing black shades.

OWEN POWELL

Although Owen hasn't written too many songs, all of his songs are among the most popular Catatonia songs. He tends to write slower songs, such as Don't Need the Sunshine, Strange Glue and Nothing Hurts, but he is also responsible for Dazed, Beautiful and Bruised and Apathy Revolution.

ALED RICHARDS

Aled is the band drummer and is known for his long hair and hats. He isn't heavily involved in the writing of songs, but a band isn't a band without a great drummer!
